The Office of Teaching and Learning is pleased to host the Literacy with an Attitude: Tools for the Thinking Classroom Professional Learning Conference.  The conference will take place on August 17 & 18 at a variety of locations, which are listed on this website under “Conference Sites.” Sessions will begin promptly at 8:00 a.m. and end at 3:30 p.m.

Conference Objectives:

To improve the quality of teaching and learning in the classroom by

• implementing the SAISD curriculum guides
  
• engaging students using differentiated instructional strategies (Marzano's Nine)
• reinforcing literacy strategies (reading, writing, and comprehension) in all content areas
• implementing the new English/Language Arts TEKS
  
• reinforcing college-readiness strategies
• using questioning strategies (QUILT)
• using online educational resources to support comprehensive instruction

Conference Schedule - August 17 and 18:

7:30-8:00	Registration	Please note the following: Teachers have been pre-registered to conference sessions and do not have to log in to ePath. To find out where you should report, please click on the Campus Schedules tab above. Plan to arrive at least 15 minutes before the session begins to sign-in at the Registration Desk. (The Registration Desk will open at 7:30 a.m.). Sign-in by campus at the session location in the morning and after lunch. (Please allow time for the afternoon sign-in.) Sign-in sheets will be provided to campus principals along with the session certificates of attendance. Coffee will not be served, please feel free to bring your own. Drinks are not permitted in the computer labs.
8:00 - 12:00	Morning C&I Sessions
