facilitating extended communication, cooperation and collaboration between all community and campus stakeholders,
overseeing instructional programs and special projects, and
implementing ongoing focused professional learning for all staff that is relevant, meaningful and has proven, demonstrated value to students.
The SAISD Office of Academics responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
fostering teachers’ deep, meaningful understanding of content through the establishment and maintenance of supportive, engaging learning environments, and,
strengthening instruction through the promotion of current research-based practices.
The SAISD Office of Academics provides district leadership to foster a unified approach to the development of a rigorous, relevant curriculum that supports the graduation of every child and prepares them to be successful, contributing members of the community.
The Office of Academics supports instructional activities that increase student achievement through increasing staff knowledge of students’ cognitive, social, and psychological developmental processes. Educators can build on this knowledge to provide supportive, engaging learning opportunities for all students.
In addition, the department supports campuses and teachers in the area of curriculum and instruction development and implementation.
