Sample Program
  • Observe respectful silence during the raising of the flag.
  • Lower the flag to half-staff until noon to honor our fallen heroes.
  • Recite the Pledge of Allegiance.
  • Sing the national anthem either as a group, joined by a choir, members of the school’s band, or a prerecording, and play or sing other examples of patriotic music and present the meaning behind the music.
  • Retell the history of Memorial Day and the reasons for the current observance.
  • Have guest speakers come to your campus. Speakers can include current or former military, students, elected officials, professors, or historians.
  • Conduct a moment of silence in reflection for those who have died while in service to our nation.
