Parent Connections for Social Studies - Second Grade Semester 2 - Working In Our Community

President Lincoln explains the importance of saving your money and the differences between goods and services!

Now that I’ve gotten paid for my work, shall I save or spend my money? Working In Our Community is a unit devoted to equipping students with the knowledge to explain how work provides income for people to purchase goods and services.

Students will learn about the free enterprise system and how to make choices about saving and spending money.

As students continue to learn about earning, saving, and spending in Working In Our Community, they will distinguish between producing and consuming goods and services.

Students will identify ways in which people are consumers and producers and explore the development of products from natural resources. Explaining how science and technology have changed the way people meet basic needs will allow students to see how work in the community has changed over time.
