|Parent Connections for Social Studies - Third Grade Semester 2 - Governing Communities|
Connie the Constitution explains what we are going to learn about the different types of governments that can be found in the United States!
Why is government important in a community? Governing Communities lays the foundation for the structure and functions of government. In this unit of study, students will uncover the branches of government at the local, state, and national levels, identify government officials and explain how they are chosen.
In addition to government functions, students will learn the importance of the “Consent of the Governed”, the characteristics of good citizenship, and explain the importance of individual acts of civic responsibility, including obeying laws, serving the community, serving on a jury, and voting.
