Needs Assessment

Disaggregated TAAS Data by Subgroups

We also looked at the results of our needs assessment by ethnic group and economic condition, categories that all schools and school districts must address in their performance objectives. This analysis of our performance revealed patterns similar to the ones evident in state-wide data. In the last year, however, SAISD has narrowed the gap at all grade levels and in all subjects except third grade reading.

Our students continue to score lower than similar students across the state. Our African American students have the lowest scores followed by Hispanic students and then White students. We also found that male students generally scored lower than female students in all three tests in grades 3-8. We must learn how to do a better job helping our African American and our male students succeed in our schools.
