Iowa Test of Basic Skills (ITBS)

For students who are identified as "NEW" to the district and the Home Language Survey indicates a language other than English the campus will administer the Iowa Test of Basic Skills to determine language proficiency levels. The ITBS test is ONLY available in English, so a recent immigrant is not administered this assessment. This test is administered once in the fall and once in the spring. The LPAC coordinator at each campus orders these assessments through the testing department.

Woodcock-Munoz Language Survey

Woodcock-Munoz is administered twice a year, using Form A in the fall and Form B in the spring. Form A may be given to either English or Spanish or both languages. This assessment is given dependent upon the completion of the Home Language Survey, if a language other that English is selected.
