Lieutenant Pelfrey

Lt. Sherryl Pelfrey is the Commander of the Operational Support Unit of the San Antonio ISD Police Department. She joined the department in 1989 as a patrol officer, earned the rank of Sergeant in 1992 where she supervised campus and patrol officers for 5 years.  In February of 1997 she earned the rank of Lieutenant. She is currently working toward completing the Law Enforcement Management Institute of Texas at Sam Houston State University.
 
In 1994 Lt. Pelfrey established the SAISD Crisis Plan and Emergency Response Guide and continues to promote preparedness through active response training and drills with her team of Crisis Planning Officers.  Presentations and training to school staff, along with practice drills, are conducted yearly at each SAISD campus.

As the Administative Lieutenant, she oversees Criminal Investigations, Gang Unit, Training Unit, Applicant Processing, Field Training Officers, Special Event Coverage, Technology Support, Vehicles & Equipment, Grants and the Police Honor Guard. 

The SAISD Police Training Unit received special recognition from the State of Texas for "exceeding the level and types of training required" for police officers.
