After School Challenge

1. Homework and tutorial assistance is based on the school days instructional lessons or academic enrichment activities.
2. A safe and conducive place for students to study, socialize, interact, and engage in recreational/physical fitness opportunities.
3. A snack administered under and meeting Program and federal requirements.
The district goals that the program embrace are to:
- Provide a quality education and safe learning environment for every student.
- Provide activities that are based on attaining student achievement at or above grade level; and
- Provide family involvement activities for students and families
- Objective of the program is to provide after school educational and recreational enrichment opportunities for students enrolled in the district.
SciMath/Learning Through Sports Initiatives is a math and science initiative program funded by the City of San Antonio, serves as a model program for all 60 SAISD After School Challenge sites. The program will provide accelerated, student-centered opportunities for students at campuses that have been designated by each of the After School Challenge partners. SciMath/Learning through Sports Initiatives reflects the TEKS in terms of curricular and instructional standards while addressing the enrichment needs of the whole child. Parents as well as students will benefit in the knowledge that all activities will take place in a safe, drug free and nurturing environment.
