Rex L. Hartwig, Head Trainer

Rex Hartwig coordinates the athletic training program for the SAISD high schools.  He is originally from Cortland Nebraska and received his M.S. degree from the University of Arizona and his B.A. from the University of Nebraska in Health Education.

Rex began his employment career with the San Antonio   Independent   School District in 1977 as the Athletic Trainer at Highlands   High School . In 1980 he was placed at the Athletic Office serving as the Coordinating Trainer and currently supervises the twelve athletic trainers on the high school campuses, organizing work schedules, physical and insurance claims.

He is a member of the National Athletic Trainers Association, the Southwest Athletic Trainers Association and the Alamo Athletic Area Trainer's Association.

When not attending and/or working SAISD athletic events, he enjoys music, playing golf, traveling, and spending time with his ten-year-old son, Ryan.
