Welcome to Office of District Initiatives & Special Projects

The Office of District Initiatives & Special Projects works in conjunction with the campuses, administrative offices and vendors - serving as the liaison in planning, coordinating and implementing major SAISD-wide technology initiatives and projects.

Our goal is to guide and assist in timelines, consult, maintain and track the progress of specific needs of a project.  Strategic planning for future development and enhancements for SAISD plays a big role in purchasing the hardware, software and peripherals that fit the needs of our students, teachers and staff.

Ongoing Projects

Elementary E-RATE Cabling
Year 14 - Contractors installing Cat 6 and fiber at Elementary Schools to be completed by September 1, 2012.

Year 15 - 30 Campuses due to begin cabling on July 1, 2012, to be completed September 1, 2013.

During the  conversion, the current network service will be taken down and remain unavailable, until the  next day, and switched to new cabling.  There will be no network/Internet connectivity available for the entire campus, including no email, Region 20 or Grade book access, etc..  Once an area(s) is converted, there will be full access using the new cabling.  This work will complete the network conversion.
