If you have a child who will be 3 or 4 years old as of Sept. 1, 2014, we encourage you to apply for SAISD's early childhood education program, which includes the pre-kindergarten and Head Start programs for the 2014-15 school year. Registration continues throughout the year.

Families must meet established income guidelines or meet other eligilbity criteria to qualify for admission to either of the two programs. If your child does not quality for one program, he or she may qualify for the other.

Find out whether you meet the guidelines for Pre-Kindergarten or for Head Start.

Follow these easy steps to register and find out what documents to bring.

More about SAISD’s early childhood education program

The District’s acclaimed early childhood education program is comprised of the federally funded Head Start program and the state and District funded Pre-K program, both of which serve 3- and 4-year-olds five days a week from 7:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.

Head Start will be offered at 25 District locations in 2014-15, including at our four early childhood education centers – Carroll, Carvajal, Knox and Tynan – and Pre-K will be offered at 58 elementary schools and academies.
