Dear SAISD Staff

I am pleased to share some good news with you. The Board of Trustees has approved our compensation plan for the 2014-15 school year, which includes a pay increase for all permanent full-time employees, and an increase in the starting salary for new teachers. The Board and I greatly appreciate your commitment to our District and our students.

The raises approved by the Board are as follows:

• The starting salary for new teachers and registered nurses will increase from $47,900 to $49,000.

• Other teachers, librarians and registered nurses (not first year) will receive an increase of 2.5 percent to 2.6 percent.

• Classified employees, paraprofessionals and professional employees will receive on average a 1.5 percent increase based on their pay-grade midpoint.

• A $500 longevity stipend will be paid in January 2015 to returning District employees who meet criteria of completing15 years of District service in the 2013-14 school year. Please note that employees who received the Board approved one-time $500 longevity stipend in the 2013-14 school year are not eligible to receive an additional stipend in January 2015.

The raises will be reflected in employee paychecks at the start of their work-year calendar for the 2014-2015 school year.

We also continue to review our District Compensation Plan to determine if other adjustments or analysis are in need of further consideration.
