Secondary School PEP Grant GPRA Collection Procedures

 

  1. Check pedometer batteries a week before testing date.
  2. Request volunteers to help assist with testing a week in advance (contact Raul Salazar, This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it ).
  3. Have students fill out GPRA MEASURE FORM with student name, date of birth, class period, school ID, grade, measurement of height and weight (you must do this 5 times).
  4. Complete Pacer 5 times for GPRA (no pedometers should be used during the pacer). Pacer Standards for middle school boys is 36 laps, for girls are 23 laps. 
  5. Complete 3 day physical activity recall (3DPAR) for Sunday, Monday, and Tuesday.  On Wednesday students will recall what physical activity they did in the past 3 days on the worksheet provided. Students must reach 60 minutes of physical activity per day.  If met all three days, place a YES in the space, if they do not meet all three days, place a NO in the space provided.
  6. Complete Youth Risk Behavior Survey (YRBS) 5 times for GPRA testing (one for each test).  If student consumes 3 vegetables and 2 fruits per day for 7 days straight students have met the standards, place a YES in the space provided.  If students fail to consume the 3 vegetables and 2 fruits, one of the 7 days, place a NO in the space provided. 
  7. Complete 7 days readings (SW-200) of 9100 steps per day to meet standard. During the testing period if student does not meet 9100 standard per day place a NO in space provided.
  8. Baseline testing will be the first test you will give. This should be done without any explanation of GPRA measures (how many steps, amount of fruits and vegetables to consume, and amount of physical activity per day). By the second test students should be aware of GPAR measures.
  9. Input all students GPRA data in GPRA template then email to This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it or physical education department no later than the following Friday after test is completed.
  10. All test material to be placed in manila folders with schools name, teachers name, class period, and month of test.  This will be stored in a box until test 5.  When test 5 has been completed and the template has been sent; you will bring the box with all 5 test material to the physical education department in room 31 at the Burnet Center.
