Lanier’s writing club inks poems from pets’ perspectives

Lanier High School students who are members of the Blue Ink Creative Writing Club visited the San Antonio Humane Society earlier this month. At the shelter, the students were paired with an animal to write a poem or a creative biography from the perspective of that pet. These writing pieces are being published on the Humane Society’s website to help the animals get adopted. April is National Poetry Month, and it is also the month during which the school holds its annual Sidney Lanier Poetry Festival. The Humane Society project is just one in a series of projects that make up the school’s annual event.  Read more.
