GEARUPwebTop students in the class of 2017 and their parents had the opportunity to hear first-hand this week what it takes to make it to our nation’s top-tier colleges and universities. During an event of the GEAR UP college readiness program, SAISD alumni attending mostly out-of-state colleges shared their experiences and insight. The event is just one of a number we will host throughout the coming school year as part of Students on the Rise, a new initiative to link our students to the best colleges and universities that offer full financial assistance to eligible students. The program also connects students with dedicated mentors who will help them through the college process.

COSAwebWhat an opportunity for SAISD and other local students: Edison HS is host to the Chamber Orchestra of San Antonio Music Institute, where students are receiving intensive training and private instruction from an internationally recognized panel of senior artists and collaborators. The two-week institute culminates July 2 in a closing concert by the young artists at the Tobin Center for the Performing Arts.
