April 26 (Fri) – Battle of Flowers Parade Day
All District schools and most offices will be closed.

April 28 (Sun) – Elementary students to dance at Fiesta event
2:30 p.m. at Texas A&M University-San Antonio, One University Way
Ballet Folklorico dancers from Smith Elementary School will perform at the Festival de Cascarones.

April 29 (Mon) – Elementary school to receive $6,000 gift
9 a.m. at Smith Elementary School, 823 South Gevers St.
Students will present a giant ‘thank you’ card to Bimbo Bakery representatives as they gift the school with a $6,000 check.

May 3 (Fri) – Friday Fenomenal field trips
9 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. at various locations around San Antonio
On this special learning day, students at Bonham Academy will choose from a menu of unique learning experiences – both on campus and across the city – with an opportunity to select activities based on their interests and passions.

May 3 (Fri) – School wins movie night
7:30 p.m. at Hawthorne Academy, 115 W. Josephine St.
As the result of a citywide competition among schools, Hawthorne Academy won a movie night from Slab Cinema. Students and their families will begin gathering at 7:30 p.m., with the movie beginning at 8 p.m.

May 4 (Sat) – Advanced Placement (AP) Super Saturday
8 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. at Edison High School, 701 Santa Monica Drive
More than 350 high school students throughout San Antonio ISD will benefit from Advanced Placement (AP) exam preparation. Students will rotate between 24 topics, choosing three sessions from which they will gain test-taking skills, strategies and knowledge. Sessions will be taught by AP implementation specialists and high school AP teachers.

May 4 (Sat) – Job fair for select teaching positions
9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Freeman Coliseum Expo Hall, 3201 East Houston St.
In preparation for Fall 2019, San Antonio ISD is hosting a job fair, at which it will conduct initial interviews for certified teacher candidates in the areas of secondary science, math and English, dual language, career technology and special education.

May 4 (Sat) – Community rummage sale
9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Cotton Academy, 1616 Blanco Rd.
The community is invited to find deals at a rummage sale, hosted by the school’s Young Professionals Organization, during Blanco Street’s First Saturday event. In collaboration with neighborhood restaurants, when community members present a rummage sale proof of purchase, they will either receive free food (free order of fries with a purchase of a hamburger and soft drink at Chris Madrid’s) or the eatery will donate a portion of the food purchase back to the school (SoHill Café Neighborhood Bistro will donate 20% of the bill to Cotton Academy’s Young Professionals Organization).

April 29-May 2 – Free family fitness classes
Evenings at the SAISD schools listed below.
The popular Zumba dance fitness program classes are free and offered in partnership with Health Collaborative, a local network of citizens, community organizations and businesses. Upcoming sessions will be:
● April 29 (Mon) – 5:30 p.m. at Burbank High School, 1002 Edwards St.
● May 1 (Wed) – 5:30 p.m. at Rogers Academy, 620 McIlvaine St.
● May 2 (Thurs) – 5:45 p.m. at Herff Academy, 996 S. Hackberry St.
