May 31 (Mon) — Memorial Day
All SAISD schools and most departments will be closed.


June 1 (Tues) — Mayoral visits
Julián Castro will cap off the 2009-10 school year by speaking to students about the importance of education at the following campuses and times:
● 8:45 to 9:10 a.m. at Page Middle School, 401 Berkshire Ave.
● 9:25 to 9:50 a.m.  at Davis Middle School, 4702 E. Houston St.
● 10:05 to 10:30 a.m. at Rogers Middle School, 314 Galway St.


June 2 (Wed) — Visit from Leticia Van de Putte
9:30 a.m. at Fox Tech High School, 637 N. Main Ave.

The District 26 state representative will talk with teen parents, and then tour the school’s day care learning center. .

June 4 (Fri) — Last day of school

June 5 (Sat) — E3 $ummit
8 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Sam Houston High School, 4635 E. Houston St.

Information will be provided on home improvement funding, loans to purchase a home, and a “green living” drawing will be held. Prizes will include trees, plants, mulch, fans and water-friendly toilets. Participants also can learn about educational options through a panel discussion. This event is part of the city of San Antonio’s 2010 East Side Business Summit series, sponsored by District 2 Councilmember Ivy Taylor, and Mayor Julián Castro.

June 5 (Sat) — Career Pathways & Advanced Degrees Information Fair 2010
9 a.m. to noon at Marriott Plaza Hotel, 555 S. Alamo St.

Representatives of area and online colleges and universities will be available to answer questions and provide information to SAISD employees interested in furthering their education. Fair sponsor is the District’s Department of Human Resources.

June 5 (Sat) — Paraprofessional-Classified Job Fair
9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Brackenridge High School, 400 Eagleland Drive at S. St. Mary’s St.

Positions sought include Braillests, bus driver assistants, custodians, certified deaf interpreters, food service substitutes, grounds keepers, Head Start program instructional assistants, health assistants, journeyman HVACs,  mariachi assistants, and special needs instructional assistants. The application process begins online at www.saisd.net.

June 5 (Sat) — Edison High School graduation ceremony
9:30 a.m. at the Alamodome, 100 Montana St.


June 5 (Sat) — Fox Tech High School graduation ceremony
1 p.m. at the Alamodome, 100 Montana St.


June 5 (Sat) — Highlands High School graduation ceremony
4 p.m. at the Alamodome, 100 Montana St.
