2009 Grants

The San Antonio Foundation for Excellence in Education is a private, tax-exempt, non-profit 501 (c) (3) entity that collects and disburses tax-deductible gifts to fund innovative programs and projects within the San Antonio Independent School District to facilitate student achievement, develop and recognize staff and teacher excellence and strengthen partnerships in the community.  Through the Foundation, the Excellence in Education Grant Fund has been established as a means of furthering students’ academic performance and achievement throughout SAISD.  The Foundation was reactivated in October 2007 with a donation of $250,000 from H-E-B and Charles Butt and $100,000 from AT&T.

Foundation gifts in excess of $95,000 were granted in the 2007-08 inaugural year to support efforts in science, math, reading and special needs instruction.  In addition, H-E-B’s generous contribution went toward expanding the Pre-K program at Bonham Academy.

A primary fundraising event sponsored by the Foundation is the annual Cinco de Mayo Golf Tournament scheduled May 4, 2009.
