Sept. 11 (Sat) — Annual SAISD Fall Bilingual Symposium
7 a.m. to 12:35 p.m. at Burbank High School, 1002 Edwards St.

Keynote speaker will be University of Texas at El Paso associate professor Dr. Elena Izquierdo. Breakout sessions will be themed "From Random Acts of Improvement to Strategic, International & Explicit Teaching!"

Sept. 11 (Sat) — ‘Friends of Bonham’ fundraiser
5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at CHRISpark, 111 Camp St.

Proceeds from an evening of music, kite making, food and beverages will go toward moving the playscape at this park in the SoFlo neighborhood to nearby SAISD’s Bonham Academy. Suggested donation for attendance is $10.

Sept. 14 (Tues) — Lavaca Neighborhood Association meeting
7 p.m. at Central Baptist Church, 1226 S. Presa St.

District 1 Trustee Rubén D. Cuero will present an overview to the Lavaca Neighborhood Association on SAISD’s $515 million bond proposal that voters will decide Nov. 2. This is one of several community meetings the District’s seven School Board members are attending on this topic.

Sept. 15 (Wed) — Jefferson Educational Leadership Council
6 p.m. at Jefferson High School, 723 Donaldson Ave.

District 7 Trustee Ed Garza will present an overview to the Jefferson Educational Leadership Council on SAISD’s $515 million bond proposal that voters will decide Nov. 2. This is a monthly meeting of community groups in the Jefferson High School area.
