May 30 (Sat) — Paraprofessional-Classified Job Fair
9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Brackenridge High School, 400 Eagleland Drive at S. St. Mary’s St.
A variety of positions are sought including bus drivers, bus driver assistants, braillests, custodians, health assistants, Head Start program instructional assistants, licensed vocational nurses and mariachi instructors. The application process begins online at www.saisd.net.

June 2 (Tues) — SAPD helicopter landing
8:45 a.m. at Mission Academy, 9210 S. Presa St.
Students will be treated to a visit from one of the San Antonio Police Department’s choppers in celebration of SAISD’s newest school’s first year. The landing was arranged by an officer whose child attends Mission Academy.

June 3 (Wed) — ‘Book a Brighter Future’ distributions
8:30 a.m. at Hawthorne Academy, 115 W. Josephine St.
12:30 p.m. at Maverick Elementary School, 107 Raleigh St. near Babcock Road
SAISD Reading is Fundamental coordinators will be joined by volunteers from Macy’s in delivering books. The reading materials were funded through Macy’s summer 2008 SHARE program, “Book a Brighter Future.” SAISD is the only area school district to benefit from this national fundraiser to provide books to at-risk children, and also has applied for the 2009 summer program. These two schools were among 13 SAISD recipients.

June 5 (Fri) — Last day of school

June 6 (Sat) — Scholastic chess tournament – NEW DATE
8 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Mission Academy, 9210 S. Presa St.
Future Bobby Fischers from throughout San Antonio will compete for fun and prizes. This event originally was scheduled for May 2.

June 6 (Sat) — Jefferson High School graduation ceremony
9:30 a.m. at the Alamodome, 100 Montana St.

June 6 (Sat) — Burbank High School graduation ceremony
1 p.m. at the Alamodome, 100 Montana St.

June 6 (Sat) — Sam Houston High School graduation ceremony
4 p.m. at the Alamodome, 100 Montana St.

June 6 (Sat) — Edison High School graduation ceremony
7:30 p.m. at the Alamodome, 100 Montana St.

June 7 (Sun) — Fox Tech High School graduation ceremony
9:30 a.m. at the Alamodome, 100 Montana St.

June 7 (Sun) — Highlands High School graduation ceremony
1 p.m. at the Alamodome, 100 Montana St.

June 7 (Sun) — Lanier High School graduation ceremony
4 p.m. at the Alamodome, 100 Montana St
