Registration under way for After-School Challenge program
SAN ANTONIO, July 22, 2011 – A wide variety of fun learning opportunities for elementary and middle school-aged youngsters is available through the After-School Challenge Program. Registration now is under way through Aug. 18 for schools served by the following providers. For more information parents are asked to contact:

Parents unable to register their children during this time may also do so during the Districtwide enrollment session to be held Aug. 18 (information follows below). Schools and providers
Provided by the Boys and Girls Club of San Antonio — Bonham, M.L. King and Mission academies; Barkley-Ruiz, Bowden, Cameron, Collins Garden, De Zavala, Gates, Hirsch, Kelly, Lamar, Rodriguez and Storm elementaries; and Rhodes Middle School.
• Provided by Greater San Antonio After-School All Stars — Beacon Hill, Briscoe, Green, Forbes, Highland Hills, Huppertz, Japhet, Miller, Riverside Park, Smith, Stewart, Washington, Wilson, W.W, White, Woodlawn and Woodlawn Hills elementaries.
• Provided by the YMCA of San Antonio — YWLA Academy; Crockett, Sarah King, Margil, and Neal elementaries; Connell, Harris, Irving, Longfellow, Lowell, Page, Poe, Rogers, Tafolla, and Whittier middle schools.
• Provided by the YWCA — Austin Academy; Arnold, Ball, Brewer, Cotton, Douglass, Fenwick, Herff, Highland Park, Hillcrest, Madison, Nelson, Ogden, Rogers, Schenck and Steele elementaries.
Fee information
All students who are registered and whose entry fees (based upon a sliding scale) are paid will be allowed to participate in After-School Challenge for the 2011-12 school year. To determine the fee, parents are asked to provide financial documents at the time of registration such as:
● 2010 tax return
● Social Security income
● Temporary Assistance for Needy Families
● Food stamps
● Medicaid
●,Children’s Health Insurance
● any other public/government benefit award documents
● Notarized employment verification
Aug. 18 Districtwide registration
SAISD will host registration 3 to 7 p.m., Thursday, Aug. 18 at the Alamo Convocation Center, 110 Tuleta St., for students who attend participating All-Star Challenge schools, and for those not already registered through the Boys & Girls Clubs of San Antonio, YMCA and the YWCA.
