WELCOME TO THE 2011-12 SCHOOL YEAR

Mark your calendars! First day of classes for SAISD students is Monday, Aug. 22. Whether you’re a returning student or new to the District, here’s everything you need to know to help get the new school year off to a great start.


SCHOOL TIMES
• Early Childhood Education Center campuses - 7:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.
• Elementary – 8:10 a.m. to 3:10 p.m.
• Middle school – 8:45 a.m. to 3:45 p.m.
• High school – 8:45 a.m. to 4:15 p.m.


WHAT TO WEAR
All District students must be attired in a uniform of khaki pants, shorts, skirts, capris or jumper and a white top or alternate school-approved shirts with collars in school colors.

MEAL APPLICATIONS
As part of the registration process, parents or guardians are encouraged to submit free and reduced-priced meal applications verifying their child’s eligibility.
SAISD’s participation is offered in conjunction with the federal Child Nutrition Program, administered by the U.S. Department of Agriculture.
NEW SAISD students must have lunch money on the first day of school and every day until a free and reduced-price school meal application has been received and processed by the Food & Child Nutrition Services Application Office.
Lunch prices: pre-kinder – 5th grade.......... $1.80
6th – 12th grade........................................... $2.05
Breakfast is served free of charge to students.

AFTER-SCHOOL CHALLENGE PROGRAM
This after-school learning opportunity for select elementary and middle school students is available at 63 campuses. Entry fee is on a sliding scale. Districtwide registration will be:
• Aug. 18, 3 to 7 p.m., at the Alamo Convocation Center, 110 Tuleta St.
