Cool off at Jefferson's Ice Cream Summer Social, kick off school year
Jefferson High School is preparing to launch the new school year with a community-building event on Friday, Aug. 19, between 7:30 and 9 p.m. The evening of events will include the annual Ice Cream Summer Social and the re-lighting of the school's prominent dome.
The ice-cream social is a tradition that dates back to the high school’s early years and brings together community members throughout the Jefferson area. Student groups will converge on Pony Field to celebrate the start of the 2011-12 school year. The social is sponsored by Oak Farms Dairy and Big Red.
Here are more details about the various activities that will take place at the school year kick-off:
WHO: Jefferson High School Students (Mustang Band, Color Guard, Twirlers, Lassos, Wrangler, Lariats, JROTC and fall sports teams), and special guests, including SAISD Trustee Ed Garza.
WHEN: Aug. 19 (Friday) – 7:30-9:00* p.m.
Band Boosters BBQ plate sale, 5-7p.m $6/plate, cafeteria
Pass N Review, 7:30p.m., Pony Field
Ice Cream Summer Social and Performances, 7:30-8:30 p.m.
