What: 4E Run/Walk and Health Festival
Hundreds of kids and adults will gather to celebrate
health, fitness and education.

5K & 10K Race (8:30 a.m.) 1 Mile Fun Run (10:30 a.m.)
Where: Brackenridge HS, 400 Eagleland Dr.
Dr. Ricardo Romo, president of the University of Texas at San Antonio, and District 1 City Councilman Diego Bernal (both proud SAISD alumni) will kick off the race with the Spurs Coyote at 8:30 a.m. The 4E (Education, Exercise, Engagement, Empowerment) festivities will include a 5K and 10K race along the San Antonio River on the Mission Reach. A one-mile Fun Run will happen with H-E-Buddy at mid-morning where the first 250 kids in the race will receive a backpack filled with goodies.
A Health Festival, free and open to the community, will take place between 9 a.m. and noon. Some of the health activities include a pediatric mobile unit for free immunizations, a mobile mammography unit, BMI assessments, nutritious meal
planning, food sampling, vision checks, diabetes screenings, blood pressure tests, dental checks, car seat safety, physician talks, and Zumba classes.
Spurs Pop-A-Shot Basketball, Radio Disney and the Rampage Road Show Street Hockey will also participate in this first-ever event. Active play stations, games and a variety of moving activities will be available to all who attend. There will be prize giveaways and monetary awards given to top schools and individual race winners.
Event sponsors are SAISD, the SAISD Foundation and other entities. Funds raised will benefit the SAISD Foundation excellence in education grants program with a focus on health and wellness.
