After-School Challenge program registration starts Aug. 9

SAN ANTONIO, Aug. 7, 2012 – A wide variety of fun learning opportunities for elementary and middle school-aged youngsters at 62 campuses is available through the After-School Challenge Program.

Districtwide registration will be 3 to 7 p.m. Thursday, Aug, 9 at the Convocation Center, 110 Tuleta Drive. Children who attend a participating school may also be signed up during SAISD’s Aug. 14-17 enrollment period to be held at each campus.

• Provided by the Boys and Girls Club of San Antonio  — Bonham, M.L. King and Mission academies; Barkley-Ruiz, J.T. Brackenridge, Bowden, Cameron, Collins Garden, De Zavala, Gates, Hirsch, Kelly, Lamar, Rodriguez and Storm elementaries; and Rhodes Middle School..

• Provided by the YMCA of San Antonio — YWLA Academy; Crockett, Sarah King, Margil, and Neal elementaries; and Connell, Harris, Irving, Longfellow, Lowell, Poe, Rogers, Tafolla, and Whittier middle schools.

Fee information
All students who are registered and whose entry fees (based upon a sliding scale) are paid will be allowed to participate in After-School Challenge for the 2012-13 school year. To determine the fee, parents are asked to provide financial documents at the time of registration such as:
● 2011 tax return

● Social Security income

● Temporary Assistance for Needy Families

● Food stamps

● Medicaid

● Children’s Health Insurance

● any other public/government benefit award documents

● Notarized employment verification
