What: New teachers to get boost for the classroom with
grants for supplies

On Thursday evening, some 112 SAISD teachers who are new to the profession will receive a boost for the classroom when they each receive $200 grants to purchase supplies to better equip their classrooms for learning.
The New Teacher Supply Grants, awarded by the SAISD Foundation, a non-profit organization that raises money that goes back into SAISD classrooms, will be used on a range of supplies, from purchasing new books for classroom libraries to buying materials for advanced science experiments.
In all, $22,400 in grant money will be awarded to teachers, impacting 6,896 students. The teachers will receive supply vouchers at Thursday night’s event after hearing from guest speakers. Awards will be presented at 6:20 pm.
