Search for permanent superintendent continues
In a special meeting held Monday evening, Feb. 11, the Board of Trustees met to deliberate on candidates they had interviewed in late January for the superintendent position and chose to not name a finalist. The Board plans to schedule a special meeting with the search firm, PROACT, to further review candidate applications and determine next steps.
The Board has held two rounds of interviews of candidates: the first round of seven candidates was held Jan. 14-15; then that list was narrowed to three candidates for a second round of interviews January 24th.
Board President Ed Garza stated that they are continuing with the interview process. “The trustees all have a sense of urgency but at the same time we are being very deliberate through this process to find a permanent superintendent. This is a critical process and our goal is to find that right candidate to lead the District.”
The School Board developed a profile of a candidate based on information gathered from a number of stakeholder engagement forums. This followed an extensive process led by the PROACT Search firm that yielded 88 applicants for the superintendent position.
