What: Briscoe ES students to present Police Chief McManus with
1000+ teddy bears to comfort children in crisis
When: Friday (March 22), 9:30 a.m.
Where: Briscoe Elementary School, 2015 S. Flores St.
Looking to a teddy bear’s power to provide comfort and inspire a smile, Briscoe Elementary School students have collected more than 1000 stuffed bears to be given to the children with whom first-responders of the San Antonio Police Department come in contact.
Students will present the furry companions to San Antonio Police Chief William McManus to be used throughout the year when responding to calls involving children. McManus volunteers at the school each week as a Reading Buddy.The bear drive to benefit local agencies has become an annual event at the school, which has as a bear as its mascot.
The bear drive is one way Briscoe students put into practice the trait of caring, one of the “Bear Essentials” they learn as part of the school’s character development curriculum.
