With the help of a loaned van from SAISD’s Early Childhood Education department, Herff ES principal Traci Smith and volunteer staff will travel the neighborhoods this summer to give children the opportunity to read while school is closed for the summer. The book mobile will have books in both English and Spanish, and at all levels. Each child may select at least two books and may keep them.
Scheduled dates are: June 14, June 28, July 12 and July 26 (more dates if they still have books).
The school is collecting new and gently used books to add to their book van. If you have donations please contact the SAISD Governmental & Community Relations department at: 554-2230. Both Spanish- and English-language books needed.
