SAISD Athletic Hall of Fame
Submit a nomination to the SAISD Athletic Hall of Fame
Nominations are being accepted through May 15, 2015, for the 2nd annual SAISD Athletic Hall of Fame.
The District’s 2016 Athletic Hall of Fame will honor six individuals, who may include retired or currently active student-athletes, coaches, administrators, contest officials, media personnel, sports medicine personnel, athletic trainers, or distinguished volunteers. Nominees must exemplify the highest standards of sportsmanship, ethical conduct and moral character.
A selection committee will review all nominees and select the final honorees.
The inaugural Hall of Fame ceremony was held in February 2015, where eight honorees were inducted and hundreds of community and family members were in attendance for the star-studded ceremony.
The Hall of Fame’s purpose is to recognize and preserve the heritage of SAISD’s high school athletics, keep alive its tradition and spirit, and honor those persons, who through distinguished achievement, have excelled in one or more of the District’s high school athletic programs. In addition to outstanding athleticism, inductees are chosen for their distinction and excellence based on their conduct both on and off the field, or court, of competition. This recognition helps maintain and strengthen the District’s spirit, pride and sense of community, as well as serve as a historical account of our great athletic traditions.
Along with being honored in a special ceremony, those inducted will receive a plaque to keep while another will be displayed in the Hall of Fame Wall located on the visitor’s side of Alamo Stadium. Inductees also are recognized with bricks inscribed with their induction date, which are placed in the stadium’s Hall of Fame Walkway.
