Assistant Athletic Director Barbara Wise Assistant Athletic Director

Barbara Wise became an Assistant Athletic Director in
SAISD in July 2007 after teaching English and coaching
for 18 years. Barbara oversees the Middle School Athletic
program at SAISD, to include the sports Football, Volleyball,
Basketball, Soccer, Golf, Tennis, Cross Country and Track &
Field, She also works with the M.S. Athletic Coordinators.
Barbara is the Athletic Department liaison with the
Transportation department, specifically, the CDL certification
and campus bus assignments. She also assists with athletic
event organization and supervision.

Barbara, originally from Ohio, moved to Ontario, Canada to
attend high school and college. She was a four year letterman
in Volleyball and one year letterman in Track & Field at
Queen’s University in Kingston, Ontario. She graduated Summa Cum Laude with a Bachelor of
Arts in English, and a Bachelor of Physical and Health Education. She finished her years at
Queen’s with a Bachelor of Education in 1990. Further education includes a Master of Science in
Mid-Management Administration from Texas A&M Kingsville.

In her 18 years of coaching and teaching, Barbara was an assistant coach for Girls’ Basketball,
Volleyball, Track & Field and Girls’ Rugby. She was the Head Boys’ Volleyball Coach and Girls’
Powerlifting Coach in Montreal, Quebec, the Head coach for Girls’ Soccer at Alamo Heights, the
Head Girls’ Volleyball and Track & Field coach at Southwest H.S., and the Head Boys’ and Girls'
Cross Country and Track & Field coach at Southside H.S. Throughout her career, Barbara has
coached several district championship teams, as well as numerous individual district, regional
and state qualifiers and champions. She loves to hear back from her student athletes on their
life successes and adventures.

Barbara is very involved in the THSADA, and continues her professional development through
the NIAAA. She is currently nationally certified as a Certified Athletic Administrator. Barbara
met her husband, Tony, in 1999, and they live in Boerne with their Shar Pei pups, Bentley and
Gramps. She loves her San Antonio Spurs, the Cleveland Browns and Ohio State Buckeyes.

Barbara’s philosophy is that anything is possible with a commitment to a cause, with a passion
for success and with determination to make a difference in others’ lives.
