Brian Clancy and SAISD just seem to go together. Not only is Coach Clancy an Athletic Director with the district, but his ties with the district go deep and far. His connections start with Highlands High School’s class of 1961, when his parents graduated, and culminate with his graduation in 1984, also from Highlands High School. Brian graduated from Southwest Texas State in 1988 and earned his Master’s in Educational Leadership from Lamar University in 2009.
Coach Clancy began his teaching career at Burbank High School in 1989 as a math teacher and moved to King Middle School as a math teacher and coach in 1990. After another stop locally and a ten year stretch in the Rio Grande Valley, he returned to SAISD as the Head
|Football Coach/Boy’s Athletic Coordinator at Jefferson High School in March, 2004.|
Brian became an Assistant Athletic Director in January 2010 and was promoted to Athletic Director in July 2017. He is responsible for football, baseball, softball, Alamo Stadium’s Videoboard and the SAISD Athletic Academic Initiatives. He is also responsible for the oversight of the SAISD Sports Complex, High School Head Coaches and Coordinators Evaluations, the Athletic Budget and Athletic Facilities Improvements and Expansions. He also assists with athletic event organization and supervision, and works with the campus athletic coordinators and principals to fill coaching vacancies at the high school level.
Coach Clancy is married to another Highlands graduate, Christi. They have two children, John Michael and Allison. The Clancy’s watch a lot of sports on their back deck and try to take in as many live sporting events as possible.
