SAISD 5-Year Plan
San Antonio ISD is in the midst of transformation as we work to redefine excellence for all students and, in the process, become a national model for other urban school systems. Superintendent Pedro Martinez joined the District in June 2015 and in the 2015-16 school year, the District developed 10 measurable academic goals, including achievement, graduation and college targets, to ensure accountability and progress by 2020. Also in 2015-16, we laid out our plan for achieving the goals, formally known as the Blueprint for Excellence: Target 2020.
We currently are in Year 2 of our transformation effort. Year 1 focused primarily on planning and development of systems and programs needed to create the conditions necessary for Districtwide excellence. In Year 2, we have been implementing the systems and programs that were the focus of Year 1 planning. All of our work is supported by our Pillars of Success: Academic Excellence, Talent Management, Culture Shift, Stakeholder Engagement and Fiscal Management. We encourage you to review some of the publications on this page, including our latest State of the District 2017 update to the Blueprint for Excellence, to learn how we are using innovation and choice to drive significant change in our District.
