Who:         SAISD elementary students joined by local “heroes” representing service professions including police, fire, military and more

What:       Celebrate Heroes for Health Day, organized by the Bexar County School Boards Coalition and “Go Public” to stress the importance of health and fitness for kids

When:       March 3 (Thurs) – at 10 a.m. and 1 p.m.

Where:      SAISD elementary schools, including the featured campuses (below) 

SAISD elementary students are joining others throughout Bexar County in partnering with service personnel in a united goal to get every student moving in a healthy, fit direction.

The 30-minute program will include the heroes leading 15 minutes of fun exercises including twist, shake and imaginary jump rope and sharing nutrition tips. Featured SAISD schools for media are:

• 10 a.m. at Bonham Academy, 925 S. St. Mary’s St. – More than 450 students will honor firefighters from their neighborhood station # 7 and other invited guests from the community. Joining to cheer them on will be teens from nearby Brackenridge High School.

1 p.m. at Margil Elementary, 1000 Perez St. – Firefighters from neighborhood station #11, SAISD police officers and invited community members will be among the honored guests. Entertainment will be provided by Margil’s music department.
