Who:          Some 3,500 SAISD staff, students, parents and community members (many in their first 5K) and their running sponsors

What:         Run 4 Education, sponsored by the SAISD Foundation

When:       March 5 (Sat) – 9:30 a.m. race start

Where:      Alamo Stadium, 110 Tuleta Drive (starts at parking lot entrance closest to the stadium)

Participants will be welcomed by the Whittier Middle School mariachi, who will begin performing at 8:45 a.m. on the Alamo Stadium field, and Rampage mascot T-Bone.

The route for this yearly family-friendly spring favorite will proceed up Stadium Drive, south of Trinity University, and into the neighborhoods south of Mulberry Avenue on an out-and- back route, with a final lap in Alamo Stadium where the sight of participants dashing across the finish line will be captured on the stadium's state-of-the-art Daktronics digital scoreboard. Among those crossing the finish line will be school running clubs funded by sponsor the SAISD Foundation.

Festivities will include a health festival with freebies in the Alamo Convocation Center following the race. Proceeds benefit SAISD students with prizes bestowed in the amounts of $1,000, $500 or $250 for up to nine schools for highest participation levels and grants given to campuses for running- and health- and wellness-related clubs.
