The best and brightest educational projects proposed by individuals and teams of SAISD educators will be honored with support funding totaling more than $150,000, thanks to the SAISD Foundation’s Innovative Grants Program.

Grant winners represent all grade levels and thousands of students will benefit through projects and opportunities designed to enrich their learning.  Grant giving begins on Thursday and will continue throughout May with final awards being given in August.

Following the announcement, media are invited to join Foundation Directors, SAISD School Board members, alumni and local partners and supporters on surprise classroom visits to two of the winning SAISD lead educators.  Details on those awards will be provided at the press event.

The process began earlier in the spring when a record number of educators applied for grants to fund innovative projects that they would like to implement to pique student interest, increase student engagement and improve student academic performance.

Since the 2006-2007 school year, the SAISD Foundation has raised funds to support innovation in SAISD. To date, the SAISD Foundation has awarded more than 1,185 grants and gifts to schools totaling over $2.3 million to benefit SAISD students. This coming school year, the SAISD Foundation will celebrate 10 years of investing in SAISD students and educators.
