June 18 (Sat) — San Antonio Food Bank Farmer’s Market
10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Sam Houston High School, 4635 E. Houston St.
The community is invited to shop for fresh fruits and veggies and enjoy samples of foods prepared as part of cooking demonstrations. This market, to take place every third Saturday of the month, is one of two to be held monthly at an SAISD East Side campus. The markets are offered in collaboration with the San Antonio Food Bank, SAISD and the Eastside Promise Neighborhood. The host campuses are among a half dozen EPN schools in an area supported through Promise Zone and other federal grants. 

June 22 (Wed) — Citywide 2016 Fit Family Challenge
5:45 p.m. at Whittier Middle School, 2101 Edison Drive                  
Whittier is one of the city’s eight host sites for this sixth-annual, 12-week program featuring fun fitness activities aimed at motivating families to break away from a sedentary lifestyle. The 2016 Fit Family Challenge is presented by Blue Cross Blue Shield of Texas and organized by San Antonio Sports.

June 23 (Thurs) — Summer Dance & Leadership Camp*
1 to 3 p.m. (best time and day for media) at Lanier High School, 1514 W. César E. Chávez Blvd.
About 60 high school cheer and dance students will spend three days improving their leadership and performing skills.

Ongoing thru Aug. 5 — Summer recreation* 
7:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. weekdays at 13 SAISD schools
Supervised recreational opportunities are offered in partnership with the San Antonio Parks and Recreation Department’s Summer Youth Program.
