SAISD to hold July registration for new and transfer students – and those who did not register in the spring

First day of school in SAISD is Aug. 14

Overview

  • July registration is for students who:
    • Are new to SAISD
    • Are transferring from one SAISD school to another SAISD school (does not apply to students attending magnet programs or in-district charters)
    • Did not complete registration in May 2017
  • Registration will take place at the school your child will attend, as follows:
    • July 25-27, 2017

K-12 Registration Document Checklist

Bring these documents with you to registration:

Returning students

  • Child's immunization record (up-to-date immunization records)
  • Proof of SAISD residence (utility bill, phone bill, lease agreement, etc.)
  • Photo ID (driver's license, military ID, etc.) of person registering the child

New students

  • Photo ID (driver’s license, military ID, etc.) of person registering the child
  • Proof of SAISD residence (utility bill, phone bill, lease agreement, etc.)
  • Child’s birth certificate or other proof of child’s identity and age
  • Child’s Social Security card, if available (preferred, but not required)
  • Child's immunization record (up-to-date immunization records)
  • Recent academic records (report card, withdrawal form, transcript, etc.)

Families who do not have their own homes or have been displaced and students who are in foster or kinship care may register without these documents. Please contact the Family & Student Support Services at 210-554-2635 for assistance.

Pre-K Registration Document Checklist

  • Photo ID of parent/guardian
  • Certified/Official birth certificate
  • Child’s Social Security Card, if available (preferred, but not required)
  • Proof of income (current paycheck stub for each working parent or persons in a parental role)
  • 2016 tax return, W-2 or proof of income for the past 12 months
  • Child’s up-to-date immunization record
  • Current proof of residency in SAISD (CPS Energy, SAWS, home phone bill or lease and bill holder must be present to verify address)

Additional Pre-K Registration Documents – if applicable

  • Unemployment compensation
  • Supplemental Security Income (SSI)
  • Social Security benefits
  • TANF/food stamp/SNAP
  • Earned income
  • Child support
  • Spousal support
  • Students grants/scholarships
  • Other income
  • Disability documentation
  • Military duty verification
  • Conservatorship care
  • Foster care
  • Kinship care

Additional Registration Forms

Below is a list of forms that are not required for registration but that may be necessary for certain parents to enroll their child.  Each of these forms must be notarized.  If you have any questions about these forms, please contact the school your child will attend.

Your campus may have a staff member who can act as a notary public for you.  If they do not, you may contact Adriana De Leon in the Human Resources Department at 554-8480 for assistance with notarized registration documents. 

Age Qualifications

On or before Sept. 1, a child must be:

  • 6 for 1st grade
  • 5 for kindergarten
  • 4 for pre-kindergarten
  • 3 or 4 for Head Start

School Meals

As part of SAISD's participation in the federal Child Nutrition program, administered by the U.S. Department of Agriculture, all students will receive breakfast and lunch at no cost, regardless of ability to pay. Supper also will be available to students at no cost after school at participating sites. For more information, call 554-2290. 

What to Wear

All District students must be attired in a uniform of black or khaki bottoms and a white top or alternate school-approved colored shirt. For more information, including uniform assistance, call 554-2600.
