Back-to-School Essentials

Gearing up for the start of a new school year can be stressful! We’ve put together a list of essentials  we hope will make the transition a bit smoother.

Attendance zone

Use our address lookup feature to find which school your child is zoned to attend, based on your home address. And, use our school bus stop locator tool to find the closest bus stop for your child, also based on your home address.

Registration

If you have not already registered for the coming school year, we can help you get that completed – please schedule a time with your school office or register online at any time by visiting www.saisd.net/enroll. You can also contact the Enrollment office at 210-554-2660 for assistance.

Immunizations

SAISD is partnering with several health organizations to host back-to-school immunization events throughout the District. See the schedule.

Students are required by law to have up-to-date immunizations. Students cannot go to school without the proper documentation for the required vaccines or a valid medical or conscientious exemption.

School Supply List

This page provides supply lists for some campuses; we are posting the lists as we get them from the schools. Otherwise, please consult the general supply list for elementary schools; campuses may require additional items. Supply requirements vary at middle and high schools; students will receive those on the first day of school.

Uniforms

All SAISD students must be attired in a uniform of khaki or black pants, shorts, skorts or skirt, and a white top or alternate school-approved colored shirt. Click to view the 2018-19 guidelines. Complete details will be included in the Parent-Student Handbook that is available upon request or online. If you need assistance purchasing your child’s uniforms, please contact (210) 554-2600. 

Afterschool Programs

Extended day programs offer a mix of academic and physical activities for students on campus after the regular school day, up until 6:15 p.m. All of the District’s elementary schools, and most middle schools, offer an afterschool program in partnership with a number of community organizations. Meals

SAISD provides free meals to all students through a provision of the National School Lunch Program called Community Eligibility and a small contribution of local funds. Families at only a few campuses will be required to complete meal applications, and those families will be provided the application during registration. Check out the SAISD Food and Child Nutrition Services website to view menus and learn more about the program.

mySAISD Parent Access

The mySAISD Parent Access application is now available in a website version, as well as a mobile app. Ahora en español! Through the application, parents of SAISD students can access their children’s grades, attendance, assessments, schedule, immunizations, discipline, teacher messages, mySAISD alerts and more.  Student schedules will not be available until August 10th.
