Athletic Programs Coordinator Bruce McCrary Assistant Athletic Director

Bruce McCrary joined SAISD Athletic Department in July of 2016. He most recently served as the Head Athletic Trainer, Safety and Compliance Coordinator and Director of Football Operations at Midland Lee High School in Midland, Texas.

Bruce attended Stephen F. Austin State University where he earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Kinesiology/Health with a minor in English and obtained his Master’s degree in Education. He is a Licensed and Certified Athletic Trainer and a Registered Athletic Administrator.

Bruce has had a wide range of athletic experience having begun his
career with Bum Phillips in the NFL with the Houston Oilers. He has worked at Clements High School in Ft. Bend ISD, managed two different outpatient orthopedic rehabilitation clinics, served as adjunct faculty at Stephen F. Austin State University in the Athletic Trainer Master’s program, and served on the USOC medical staff for the 1992 Summer Olympic Games in Barcelona, Spain.

Bruce is responsible for the SAISD Academy Sports League, the SAISD athletic trainers and oversite of the Alamo Stadium and Alamo Convocation Center training rooms. He will also assist with athletic event organization and supervision.

Bruce is married to Sherry who is a retired middle school teacher and coach. They have one son, Tyler, who lives in Atlanta, Georgia with his wife Kathryn, and their son Thomas.
