Oct. 17 (Mon) — School Board meeting B
5:30 p.m. at the Burnet Center, 406 Barrera St.

Oct. 18 (Tues) — AirLIFE helicopter landing and flight simulators to kick off partnership
10 a.m.  at Rhodes Middle School, 3000 Tampico St.
Following the landing, students will have an opportunity to visit with AirLIFE pilots and test drive flying through flight simulators provided by CAP, the “Tex” Hill Composite Squadron of the Civil Air Patrol. This will be the first in a year’s worth of exciting and hands-on aviation- and aerospace-related learning opportunities for students offered through funding from partner the Dee Howard Foundation.

Oct. 19 (Wed) — Lasso Alumni Association ‘Boots, Birdie & Bogey Miniature Golf Tournament
7 to 9:30 p.m. at the Cool Crest Miniature Golf Course,
1402 Fredericksburg Road
The public is invited to enjoy a round of golf at this historic course while benefitting the Jefferson High School Lasso Alumni Association, which supports San Antonio’s most famous rope twirlers. For more information visit www.lassos.org.

Oct. 20 (Thurs) — Annual Food Extravaganza
1:30 p.m.  at Edison High School, 701 Santa Monica
Taste-testers comprising 150 Edison 9th-12th-graders will cast their votes for which new food items they would like to be added to campus cafeterias Districtwide next school year. Edison is among seven  District high schools to host a food extravaganza this fall. Event sponsor is SAISD’s Child Nutrition Services Department.

October 20 (Thurs) — SAISD District Leadership Team meeting
4:45 p.m. at the Burnet Center, 406 Barrera St.
The District Leadership Team will review local innovation plans as part of SAISD efforts to become a District of Innovation. This group comprises parents, community and staff members who meet monthly to advise the school district on education goals and objectives

Oct. 17-20 — Free family fitness classes
5:30 p.m. at the SAISD schools listed below.
The popular Zumba dance fitness program classes are free and offered in partnership with Health Collaborative, a local network of citizens, community organizations and businesses. Upcoming sessions will be:
● Oct. 17 (Mon) – at Burbank High School, 1002 Edwards St.
● Oct. 18 (Tues) – at Jefferson High School, 723 Donaldson Ave.
● Oct. 19 (Wed) – at Whittier Middle School, 2101 Edison Drive
● Oct . 20 (Thurs) – at Tafolla Middle School, 1303 W. César E. Chávez Blvd.
