Nov. 21-25 — Thanksgiving holiday break
All SAISD schools and most offices will be closed this week.

Nov. 28 (Mon) — School Board meeting B
5:30 p.m. at the Burnet Center, 406 Barrera St.

Nov. 29 (Tues) — SPARK dedication
11 a.m. at the Rhodes Middle School outdoor basketball courts, 3000 Tampico St.
SAISD Superintendent Pedro Martinez, District 5 City Councilwoman Shirley Gonzales and President and CEO of San Antonio Sports Russ Bookbinder will be among those at a ceremony to officially dedicate Rhodes’ SPARK, a neighborhood park on its campus. Since 2012, San Antonio Sports has lead the effort to create school parks by turning elementary and middle school property into facilities to be enjoyed by students during the school day and open to the community for exercise and recreation after school hours.

Dec. 4 (Sun) —Journey Up The Nile First Sundays for Families Day
11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the San Antonio Museum of Art, 200 W. Jones Ave.
Admission will be free for SAISD students and their families. Among the featured attractions will be designing a mummy book, name-writing in hieroglyphics and making an Egyptian puppet. First Sundays for Families is an ongoing partnership between SAISD and SAMA and is made possible through a variety of grants.

Nov. 28 thru Dec. 1 — Free family fitness classes
5:30 p.m. at the SAISD schools listed below.
The popular Zumba dance fitness program classes are free and offered in partnership with Health Collaborative, a local network of citizens, community organizations and businesses. Upcoming sessions will be:
● Nov. 28 (Mon) – at Burbank High School, 1002 Edwards St.

● Nov. 29 (Tues) – at Jefferson High School, 723 Donaldson Ave.

● Nov. 30 (Wed) – at Whittier Middle School, 2101 Edison Drive

● Dec. 1 (Thurs) – at Herff Elementary, 996 S. Hackberry St.

● Dec. 1 (Thurs) – at Tafolla Middle School, 1303 W. César E. Chávez Blvd
