Dec. 19 thru Jan. 2 — Winter break
Most SAISD offices and all schools will be closed in observance of winter break.

Jan. 3 (Tues) — SAISD re-opens following the winter break

Jan. 5 (Thurs) — Parent information session
6 p.m. at the Advanced learning academy at Fox Tech, 637 N. Main Ave.
Parents of 4th-10th-graders are invited to learn about this school for students seeking academic challenge with greater depth and complexity and opportunities for acceleration. Sessions for the lower grades will be held the following week.

Jan.  6 (Fri) — Mini Maestros launch
11:05 to 11:50 a.m. at Huppertz Elementary, 247 Bangor St.
Huppertz will join a half dozen District elementaries in this program supported by the SAISD Foundation. Through Mini Maestros, 188 students are now enrolled in 4th- and 5th-grade strings in their SAISD schools. In honor of the Huppertz launch, a San Antonio Symphony violist will visit the classroom to perform and co-teach as a part of the symphony’s growing educational outreach and in celebration of this strings expansion made possible through a grant from the Charity Ball Association.

Jan. 7 (Sat) — SAISD to participate in San Antonio Sports All-Star Football Game, presented by H-E-B
5 p.m. kickoff at the Alamodome, 100 Montana St.
District football players representing Brackenridge, Burbank, Highlands, Jefferson and Lanier high schools are among those area-wide who will take the field for this gridiron match following the U.S. Army All-American Bowl game. Heading the East team will be Highlands coach Juan Morales.
