SAISD Board to seek applicants to fill Trustee vacancy

February 24, 2017 – At a special-called meeting tonight, San Antonio ISD School Board members voted to formally accept the letter of resignation from Trustee Olga Hernandez, who had submitted it during the Board’s regular Feb. 21 meeting.

Trustees also decided to fill the vacated District 6 seat by appointment through an application process. The application and details on the application process will be provided on the District website next week.

The Board considered three options for filling the vacancy: an appointment, a process to fill the vacancy by appointment, or a special election. The Board approved moving forward with an application process to appoint a District 6 Trustee.

Each SAISD trustee represents one of seven single-member districts and is elected by voters of that district.  Trustees serve four-year terms.  The District 6 term ends in May 2019.
