SAISD celebrates its librarians during National Library Week

Library Week

From April 9-15, during National Library Week, SAISD will celebrate its school librarians.

School librarians are certified teachers first and foremost. In addition, they have pursued advanced degrees, which have allowed them to become librarians. For these reasons, school librarians are instructional leaders on their campuses!

School librarians present professional development to campus staff, speak at parent gatherings, collaborate with teachers and co-teach lessons to students K-12.

School librarians are also technologically savvy. Today, technology untethers school librarians from their circulation desks. As the result of a new library automation system, which SAISD implemented this school year, librarians help students and staff access library materials 24/7, including academically credible digital databases and thousands of e-books for students of all ages.

Great learning happens in school libraries, and we have great school librarians to thank for that.
