Sights and sounds of SAISD during Fiesta
Our high school marching bands are among the sights and sounds of Fiesta, our city’s signature event that brings together people, culture and festivities over a span of 11 days. And you’ll also find Zumba mavens, handmade floats of recycled trash and even pint-sized grand marshals among our District’s contributions to the citywide celebrations.

April 21 (Friday)—A Night in Old Rodriguez
3:30 to 5 p.m. at Rodriguez Elementary, 3626 W. Cesar E. Chavez Blvd. Enjoy free food, entertainment and fun activities.
April 22 (Saturday)—Fiesta Zumba-Thon
9 to 11 a.m. at Alamo Convocation Center, 110 Tuleta. Enjoy free Zumba, kids’ activities, health screenings, free resources and prize giveaways.
April 23 (Sunday)—Deco District Arts and Music Festival
Noon to 8 p.m. in the Deco District, 1800 Fredericksburg Road. Visit our booth to learn all about the innovative opportunities SAISD has to offer.
April 27 (Thursday)—Recycled Trash Fiesta Parade
2:40 p.m. at Woodlawn Academy, 1717 W. Magnolia. In celebration of Earth Day, students will showcase floats and attire made out of recycled items. A king and queen will be crowned and will participate in the parade alongside San Antonio’s Fiesta Charro Queen.
April 27 (Thursday)—Battle of Flowers Band Festival
6:30 to 9:30 p.m. at Alamo Stadium, 110 Tuleta. SAISD participating bands include Brackenridge, Burbank, Edison, Highlands, Jefferson, Lanier and Sam Houston high schools.
April 28 (Friday)—Battle of Flowers Parade
12:20 to 4 p.m. parade route along E. Grayson and Broadway. SAISD participating bands include Burbank, Edison, Highlands, Jefferson, Lanier and Sam Houston high schools, as well as the SAISD District Mariachi Band.
April 29 (Saturday)—King William Fair Parade
9 a.m. parade route through King William Historic District. Grand Marshals will be students from Bonham Elementary, Page Middle School and Brackenridge High School. The Brackenridge Swim Team will be the Official Pooper Scoopers for the Longhorns. Entrants in the parade include the marching band, the Purple Jackets Booster Club and the Drama Group – all from Brackenridge High School; the Bonham Academy Drama Team; and the Fenwick and Huppertz elementary school choirs and drums.
April 29 (Saturday)—Fiesta Flambeau Parade
6:30 to 10 p.m. parade route along E. Grayson and Broadway. Participating bands include Brackenridge, Burbank, Edison, Highlands, Jefferson, Lanier, Fox Tech and Sam Houston high schools. Honorary Grand Marshal is Keith Edmondson, former Spurs player and current coach at Wheatley Middle School.
