May 3, 2017 — The San Antonio ISD Transportation Department has been recognized for exemplary performance in this year’s “100 Best Fleets” list. This is the first time that SAISD has received the honor, which for fleets, is equivalent to the U.S. News & World Report school rankings.

“Earning this national award allowed us to review our procedures for best practices,” says Nathan Graf, Senior Executive Director, Transportation and Vehicle Maintenance for the District. “The award is a demonstration of the dedicated work of the employees in the Transportation Department and motivates the team to continue to perform at high standards to benefit the students of SAISD.”

SAISD is one of only two school districts in the nation to rank among the top 100 for 2017. Humble (Texas) ISD also ranked among the top 100 fleets; and four school district fleets earned honorable mentions including Austin ISD, Galena Park (Houston) ISD, Lower Merion School District in Pennsylvania and the Pharr-San Juan-Alamo (Texas) ISD.

Other honorees on the list include government, military, policy, utility and university fleets.

Locally, CPS Energy of San Antonio also was named to the list.

The 100 Best Fleets program recognizes and rewards peak performing fleet operations in North America. The fleets are chosen based on key performance indicators such as accountability, resource stewardship, use of technology and information, quick and efficient repair turnaround, and staff development and training. The program is sponsored by Tom C. Johnson, consultant and author, and is announced annually at the NAFA Fleet Management Association’s Institute and Expo. The 2017 list was announced at the event in Florida last week.
