May 13 (Sat) — SAISD Spanish Spelling Bee
9 a.m. at  Twain Middle School, 2411 San Pedro Ave.
Students representing 31 elementaries Districtwide who were Spanish Spelling Bee winners at their schools will compete for the SAISD championship. The Bee will continue until the champion, along with those placing second and third, are declared. It typically ends before noon.

May 15 (Mon) — School Board Business Meeting B
5:30 p.m. at the Burnet Center, 406 Barrera St.

May 16-19 — SAISD Elementary School Choral Festival
9:30 to 11 a.m. at Cooper Academy auditorium, 1700 Tampico St.
This annual musical extravaganza features performances by students Districtwide.

May 18 (Thurs) — Festival of Arts
5 to 7 p.m. at Sarah King Elementary, 1001 Ceralvo St.
This event, in collaboration with San Antonio’s Office of Historic Preservation and SA2020, will showcase a variety of genres including student art, work by local artists, photography, interactive art activities, musical performances and story-telling. On special exhibit will be the Mini-Art Museum, which is part of the school’s participation in “This Place Matters,” a National Trust for Historic Places project.

May 18 (Thurs) — SAISD Night of Champions
6:30 p.m.  at the Alamo Convocation Center, 110 Tuleta Drive                  
In the spotlight will be members of SAISD’s class of 2017, who will be honored for a variety of athletic accomplishments.

May 20 (Sat) — Annual Gifted and Talented Showcase
9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Brackenridge High School, 400 Eagleland Drive
Projects from GT students Districtwide will reflect this year’s theme of change, either personally, culturally or in the community.

May 20 (Sat) — SAISD Elementary and Secondary Teacher Job Fair
9 a.m. to noon and 2 to 5 p.m. at the Henry B. Gonzalez Convention Center, Hemisfair Ballroom, 900 E. Market St.
Initial screening interviews will be held for certified-teacher candidates. Elementary-level candidates will be interviewed during the first session, with interviews for the secondary-level candidates to take place during the last session. Interviews also will be conducted for counselors, librarians, nurses, speech-language pathologist and coaches. Free parking and a shuttle service will be available at Brackenridge High School, 400 Eagleland Drive. The application process begins online at www.saisd.net.
