What:     Transportation safety-training extravaganza 
Transportation staff get a head start on preparing for the coming school year with a multi-station safety-training event designed to help

                  drivers prepare for any unknowns on the road. The event is in addition to the regular training held throughout the school year  which for
                  SAISD bus drivers is 30-35 hours above the state requirement.

                  Event partners include: The American Heart Association, San Antonio Fire Department, Union Pacific, Operation Lifesaver and Crisis
                  Prevention Institute. 

Who:     200+ bus drivers, bus assistants and bus monitors

Where:  SAISD Transportation site: 418 Roland Ave.

When:   June 5 (Monday) – 8:30-11 a.m.

The event will feature 10 hands-on exercises in specially-staged areas to include real fires for fire extinguisher training, mass evacuation in smoke-filled buses, CPR and first aid.

Drivers will rotate among the stations every 20-30 minutes.

Transportation staff will return in early August for their annual four-day back-to-school training and the start of the new school year.
